The End Times are coming!

Warhammer: Vermintide 2

Hey there, it's Brandon here talking about another game which I find quite fun to play. It's called Warhammer: Vermintide 2 and it is a cooperative hack and slash first person game. It is similar to Left For Dead in that the player must cooperate with his teammates against a massive horde of enemies. This game is a sequel to Warhammer: Vermintide (The End Times), and in this sequel it adds new enemies as well and new loot systems. The game is considerably better than the prequel and I find it just great fun to carve through hundreds of rats like a hot knife through butter.

The game may seem like a simple hack and slash game at first, which it pretty much is in order to allow new players to get into the swing of things. Later on in the game when the players are looking for a more challenging experience and better loot, things become more tactical as players must work as a team and do specific jobs such as tanking, sniping and crowd control. These roles are important in high difficulties as some characters do better than others at it, and some just cant do some roles at all. If a player seeks glory by just going and trying to take all the kills (unless its their job) then it could potentially open up their teammates for some sneaky rat to come in and kidnap them (or kill them).

The loot system also makes it feel rewarding when you play higher difficulties as you grind for that perfect red loot, with a variety of different equipment you can use and each with their own perks. My personal favourite character is Markus Kruber with his foot-knight class. This tanky man and his charge abilities make for a great crowd control combined with his heavy weapon, either the halberd (oh so versatile) or my favourite, the executioners' sword. Each of the characters have their own personality with different interactions between each other, except kerillian, she is just annoying.

Killing your way through hordes is great fun until you play legend and the game spams you with a million elites. Being either tank Kruber or Bardin and getting that last survivor clutch and saving everyone is great and makes you feel like a hero, or just blowing up an entire patrol with bombs.
Overall, the game is good but enhanced when you have friends to play with and clear communication between the team. Teamwork is optional in lower difficulties but is a must for higher ones. The loot system is complete RNG and requires you to complete a mission in order to get anything, also you must collect tomes and grimoires to increase the loot score at the end of a mission.
This game is one of my favourites and i recommend it highly.
