Crusader Kings 2: A Crazy Crusade.
Hey
there, I’m Brandon and I’m just going to talk one of my favourite strategy
games ever. Crusader kings 2. Crusader kings 2 is about your character (who is
historically significant at game start) being your normal lord, whether it be a
count, duke, king or emperor.
You can be a Muslim, a Jew, a Christian, A pagan
Viking etc. You could be French, Spanish, Swedish, or any other culture, with
each detail giving your character some background (as well as some special
troops). With some expansions you could be Indian, Mongol or even Chinese. Why
not go out there and make yourself the new Genghis Khan.
The game is full of craziness and
shenanigans, which are multiplied when you go play multiplayer (good luck
trying to avoid constant assassinations). The game is all about diplomacy,
trying to keep good relations with the A.I makes sure they don’t try to kill
you. There is a land system in the game which revolves around historical cities
or provinces, which each hold different “building slots” called holdings which
are represented by cities, castles or churches. A player can only hold so much
land before they have to give some away to their vassals. These vassals are
your subordinates but they also have their own ambitions, so they will try to
either conquer each other or usurp you.
There are a lot more details to the game, which are better to learn on your own rather than have someone explain vague topics to you. There is a full tutorial in the game that you can experience a proper game while learning, and continue that game if you wish after the tutorials are over.
There is a lot of randomness to the game so
each play through is never the same, unless you play certain historical
characters, which means that one life will normally be quite similar to their
historical one. My personal favourite person to play as is during the 867
bookmark is to play as Halfdan Whiteshirt, He starts as the Jarl of Jorvik and
is a Viking (hoorah for raiding!). He is one of the few feudal Vikings (feudal
being the governmental form, better than the other Viking government of a
tribe) and being a Viking he can raid other people for large amounts of money.
Overall the game with its randomness, large
map size and mods give the game a limitless potential for those who enjoy these
types of games. It lets the player strategise his way around his enemies and
conquers others through sheer either war and/or diplomacy. If you like strategy
games, why not give Crusader Kings 2 try, it goes on sale often.
